Healthier Grocery Shopping

It seems like the whole country is suddenly becoming more health conscious. Whether this is because of the new awareness of pesticides and GMOs, it has definitely led to changes in most grocery lists. Supermarkets like Whole Foods that carry organic and vegan products are notorious for being considerably more expensive than the other leading supermarkets. This is why it is wise to identify the items that cannot be found in the regular, more less pricey supermarkets. By doing a little research, making the transition to an organic and/or vegan lifestyle can not only be painless, but also cost-effective! For example, organic bananas can be found in most regular supermarkets year-round for less than a dollar a pound; they can be frozen and used in a variety of recipes when not eaten raw.
Organic eggplant can usually be found at a steal as well, and makes a great replacement for meat for barbecues. Another great organic vegan item that belongs on the grocery list has to be a good granola mix. Granola can be used as an addition to Greek yogurt, or can be used in recipes for cookies and trail mix. The key to keeping the grocery list healthy and the grocery bill low is to buy things that are in season which versatile nutritional values.
