Tango Dancing

Tango is a dance that has fascinated people through the ages. Originally, it originated in South America in the early Twentieth Century and was performed by a man and a woman. Today it can be danced by two men or two women as well. This sensual ballroom dance expresses a romantic mood through the synchronized movements of the dancer. Recently tango dancing has increased in popularity and dancers can practice Argentine Tango or Modern Tango.
Tango can be danced with an open embrace or a close embrace where the couple is connected at the hip or chest. The dancing posture is very important in tango. The woman is nestled in the crook of the man's arm while holding her head upright and back and resting her right hand on the man's lower hip. The man allows the lady to maintain this position while dancing or leading her around the ballroom floor in a curving pattern. Tango requires the dancers to create a strong connection between the dancers, the music and audience.
